Animals in the tundra
lemmings-Lemmings are small rodents that live in the tundra.In the winter they burrow under ground to keep warm and sort of have a den.They have a nice thick coat of fur and compact bodies to keep warm. How do they adapt to there habitat? They adapt to there habitat by changing color to match there habitat so in the winter their hair turns white to match the habitat. But in the summer its brown to match the ice not snow.
Arctic hares-Arctic hares are very similar to a lemming accept that a arctic hare is more like a bunny. Arctic hares have thick coats of fur to keep warm. The color of their fur also changes color to match there habitat. They have small ears and small tails to keep warm as they don't loose as much heat as larger ears would.
Snowy owls-Snowy owls are a 2nd consumer which is a omnivore. They are covered in white, and have lots of feathers to keep warm and blend in with their environment. They do not spend their precious time in the blizzard winter in the tundra they spend their time in the south where it is warm and not freezing to death. The owl has very good hearing and seeing to catch there prey.
